What is Goodreads you ask?
Well, Goodreads is a social networking site for readers of all ages. They have more than 14,000,000 members who have added more than
470,000,000 books to their shelves! A home for both casual readers and serious bookworms, Goodreads users can recommend books, compare what
they are reading with other users, keep track of what they've read and would like to
read, find their next book, form book clubs and even keep up with favorite authors who are Goodreads users!
To get started, head to www.goodreads.com to create your free account. All you need is a valid email! Then you can start adding books you have read and Goodreads will give you recommendations right away for future book choices based on what you have put on your Goodreads bookshelf. Users can create various shelves based on genres or other categories- think of it as your own virtual library. You can keep track of upcoming books you want to read by marking them as "Want to Read" and update your progress on books you are currently reading. You can see your progress throughout a book in percentages and then once you have finished write what you thought about the book for the Goodreads community to see.
At the bottom of this blog you will now see a grid of book covers- this display is a great way to see at a glance what books we have recently added to our Goodreads page! You can click on the book covers to jump to our Goodreads to read full book reviews, see our lists of award winning titles and staff favorites and maybe even find your next favorite book. You don't even need to join to visit our page, just follow the link to find great information! (You cannot comment on posts without being a user.)
Already a Goodreads user? Be our friend so we can see all of the great books you have read. We love getting recommendations for new books to check out too!
In the words of Goodreads founder Otis Y. Chandler, "Knowledge is power; and power is best shared among readers."
So have fun and read on!
